Thanks to all who joined us on this fantastic tour!

You are invited to join the Piquette T’s Chapter, MTFCI in celebrating the Centennial of the Model T Ford. Our tour is centered in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Ypsilanti is conveniently situated just west of Detroit, very near rural country driving and a short drive away from The Henry Ford, where our festivities will begin. Ypsilanti is also the home of a fine Fire Museum, the Miller Hudson Dealership and museum, (the oldest continually operating Hudson dealership in the world!) and the very pleasant and historic shopping district known as Depot Town, all of which are included in our plans!

Itinerary

Sunday afternoon we will depart The Henry Ford (Formerly called the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village) en-masse for our introduction to the historic Ford Piquette Plant, the first plant built by Ford and the birthplace of the Model T. We will also pass by the Highland Park plant, where Model T's were made after 1910. A late barbecue lunch will be served. Leaving Piquette, we will travel back to Ypsilanti and the Eagle Crest Marriott for a orientation meeting with dessert.

Monday we will tour approximately 100 miles visiting many of the historic water powered mills which were part of the Ford Village Industries. Many of these wonderful mills have been recently restored and are now very charming places to visit. Coffee & doughnuts and lunch stops are included.

Tuesday will be another day of rural touring along Michigan’s back roads. This tour will be shorter to accommodate the evening’s vintage fashion show event and dinner banquet at the Marriott. Lunch will also be included on this day.

Wednesday will be your day to decide which of the areas many attractions you would most like to see. Detroit has a world class art museum, the Detroit Institute of Arts, home of the world famous Diego Rivera Murals of the Ford Motor Company manufacturing operations, that has recently undergone a $150 million+ rebirth. There are also 3 Casinos to choose from if you’re feeling lucky. The Edsel and Eleanor Ford Estate in beautiful Grosse Pointe is also a fine choice. Look at www.visitdetroit.com to see all that Southeastern Michigan, the automotive capital of the world, has to offer.  If golf is your thing, the Eagle Crest Marriott has got you covered. For most choices you will be encouraged to drive "modern" however, for you Model T die-hards, an informal "T Tour" will be planned. What ever you decide, get back in time for dinner on your own and a visit to Ypsilanti’s Depot Town where streets will be blocked off and Model T Parking Only will be in effect. The Fire Museum and the Miller Hudson Dealership will be open for your enjoyment as well as other great venues for fun and shopping.

Thursday will begin with a driving tour featuring Henry Ford’s birthplace site, the Ford Family Cemetery where Henry Ford is buried, beautiful Hines Drive and a tour of Henry & Clara’s home, Fair Lane, including lunch. After our return to the Marriott and a short rest, tour buses will transport us to the Piquette Plant for closing ceremonies. All will be encouraged to dress in work clothes, as Henry’s workers did 100 years before, when the final touches were being added to what would become the most important automobile of all time, the Model T Ford! HENRY FORD III has agreed to present the closing remarks for this celebration of the century.
